What makes some people greater than others? What makes Oprah Winfrey and Richard Branson achieve so much, despite their humble background?
They both believe in themselves, no matter what their circumstances are.
What are beliefs? They are ideas and concepts created in our imagination, and stored in the sub-conscious which influences 80% of our decisions. They are the way our inner software is programmed. They very often sound like opinions.
How are they created? By the way we are brought up, ideas that are planted in our brains and experiences that create the rules by which we live. They make us decide what is good or what is bad. Parents, teachers, people in our vicinity, prejudice that is planted in our minds create our beliefs.
Mahatma Ghandi once said: Beliefs become thoughts, thoughts become words, words become actions, actions become habits, habits become values, values become destiny.
“Beliefs are the lies we tell ourselves until they are true”.
Our beliefs are stored in the heart brain, the emotional brain. The two other brains are the logical brain, the one in our head, and the gut brain, the intuition. The life coach connects with the heart brain in order to change a limiting belief. He or she do not gloss over the negative ideas and limiting beliefs that the client holds in his mind. When you change the way your brain stores the belief, you will change the belief.
Example: An elephant was tied to a pole and was forced to go around the pole without being able to go anywhere else. After some time the rope that tied him to the pole was removed. The elephant kept on going around the pole, as if it was still tied to it.
In order to change a belief, first and foremost one must truly want to change one’s belief, not just to gloss over negative beliefs.
In order to change a negative belief we must search for the reason to change this belief. If the belief causes too much damage, we should aim to change it.
Belief is made of sub modalities. If we interrupt them we can shift the belief.
What we think about we bring about – this is the law of attraction.
Some of Oprah Winfrey’s quotes:-
On gratitude:
“If you concentrate on what you have, you will always end up having more. If you focus on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
“There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.”
“You have to know what sparks the light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world.”
Quotes by Richard Branson:-
You don’t learn to walk by following rules. You learn by doing it, and by falling over.
Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.
